An interview with 2008 Supermoto Championship of Russia leader Alexander Ivanyutin

Alexander Ivanyutin, one of Russia’s top motocross riders kindly agreed to answer a few questions.

Alexander Ivanyutin participates in several championships at a time. But he is mainly concerned with representing Russia’s Red Wings team at the Interdem MX Masters, a prestigious European tournament. In any case, Alexander’s victory in the first and third rounds of the 2008 Supermoto Championship of Russia is a great achievement.

What age were you when you first started taking part in moto sports and motocross? I was between 7 and 8 when I first rode a motorbike, it was a Simson moped and then I had a Minsk. I got into motocross at the age of 12, and my first motocross bike was a Suzuki!

What pre-defined your career goals?
I watched my dad riding a bike all the time and I liked it. I really love bikes!

What’s your plans for this year’s Supermoto Championship?
I’m tempted to win it!

Is it true that you were invited to participate in Italian tournaments?
Oh, I was just offered the Aprilia Cup to find out how I’d do.

Do you watch MotoGP? And WSBK?
No, I don’t have time for that. I have to practice.

Your contract with Red Wings expires in 2008, doesn’t it? Any plans for 2009?
I have a plan for the year 2008 only. And contract renewal for the year 2009.

Do you use a bike to move around the city?
No, only a car.

What’s your relationship with other Supermoto Championship and IDM participants?
I always think positively!

How do you see the condition of motorsports this year, the ways things are organized for example?
Well, compared to Germany, it’s an average level.

Are there any problems with championships either at home or abroad?
No problems in Europe! In Russia sometimes circuits are dusty, or falling behind schedule, and unprofessional flag marshals.
