Vladimir Leonov completes first day of test rides in Spain

The Viessmann Kiefer Racing Team pilot and the first Russian to ever make it to MotoGP Vladimir Leonov was back on track yesterday for the last official pre-season MotoGP test rides in Jerez de la Frontera (Spain) today.

Yesterday was the first test ride day in the south of Spain. Vladimir showed pretty good results, ending in the 18th position. His best time was 1:47.563. He made 12 laps, the 5th of which was the most successful. Unfortunately, on the first turn of the 12th lap, Vladimir took a fall. His team then resolved to quit the test ride. It was a rather technical fall, with no injuries and no damage to the bike.

The best first-day result belonged to Hector Barbera from Spain with Alrilia (1:43.156). The second one fell to his countryman Alvaro Bautista with Aprilia (1:43.620), and the third to incumbent MotoGP champion in the 250cc class Marco Simoncelli, from Italy with the Gilera bike (1:43.833).

The test rides continued today: combined rides of the 125cc and 250cc classes, and then 125cc class and 250cc class separately. The same schedule is on for tomorrow, March 27.
