Exclusive photos from EICMA-2009 motorcycle show

The 67th EICMA motorbike show was held in Fiera Milano, Italy’s exhibition center, on November 10-15 Motonews.ru journalists attended EICMA 2009, which occupied the area of some 55,000 sq. m. The event brought together top motorbike and scooter manufacturers, such as Piaggio Group, BMW Motorrad, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Husqvarna, Kawasaki, KTM, Suzuki, Triumph, Moto Guzzi, Rizoma and others, i.e. a total of 420 participants and more than 500 brands.

Kawasaki and BMW Motorrad boasted the biggest stands among all. The Kawasaki stand was the most breath taking with plenty of bike models available to sit on and touch, and BMW stand was impressive in terms of its size and the gem that it showed off, i.e. awesome BMW Concept6. Ducati will be remembered by its stand’s size as well, along with friendly girls that could even speak Russian a little. In general, the way EICMA was organized, its endless show rooms, and, of course, reputable motorcycle producers make this Milan exhibition a very special event. For this reason, Motonews.ru suggests that future visitors to EICMA in Milan prepare to spend at least a week there, to see the latest motorcycle models and become part of this endless motorbike world.

A stand prepared by Polaris deserves mentioning as well, as it managed to fit its whole product line, i.e. from Polaris ATV’s to Victory motorcycles. Looking at all these, chatting with company representatives, one can’t help feeling that the financial downturn is nothing but the main reason for the top motorbike producers to get together and present their latest, more energy efficient, elegant and even simple but efficient solutions in various motorcycle market segments.

All in all, the event brought together motorcycle products (bikes, scooters, ATVs, LED lamps, tuning, and accessories) from almost all over the world, including China (17 stands), Taiwan (29 stands), Pakistan (23 stands), Spain (11 stands), and the USA (11 stands). The only two motorbike giants that missed the exhibition were Japanese Honda and Yamaha. The reason was the economic crisis. Unlike Honda, which was in some way present thanks to its Italian subsidiary Honda Italia, Yamaha wasn’t there at all.
