Vladimir Leonov sets sights on Yakhnich Motorsport

The Yakhnich Motorsport team is pleased to share its news on a valuable acquisition…

In the new 2011 biking season, Vladimir Leonov is set to represent the Yakhnich Motorsport team.

The director and owner of the Yakhnich Motorsport team, Alexander Yakhnich, said, “We consider Vladimir Leonov one of the best bikers in Russia and a pilot with great potential! We expect him to find that little something in our team that he lacked in all the others in order to realize his true potential. And the team, by welcoming Vladimir, is acquiring his precious experience and skills, with the hopes of improving sports results in the next season.”

Born on April 26, 1987 in Donetsk, the Rostov region (Russia), Vladimir Leonov currently lives in Moscow. He is single and loves motocross, mountain skiing, snowboarding, jogging, music, and bicycles. He has been involved in moto sport activities since the impressive age of 12. When he was just 14, he participated in the Russian Championship with his 80cc bike. In 2004, he received the amateur motocross Russian Cup in the under 125cc class. A mere year later, in 2005, he received the Cup in the under 250cc class. Since late 2006, Vladimir has been a member of the Vector Racing Team. In 2009, the Vector Racing Team, acting as Vladimir’s sponsor, made a deal with Viessmann Kiefer Racing, allowing Vladimir Leonov to be part of its team in MotoGP World Championship 2009, 250cc class. This year, Vladimir Leonov participated in the MotoGP World Championship in the new Moto2 600cc series, but, unfortunately, his participation in the 2010 world cup season has been suspended.
