Qatar launch for world leading motorcycle at Losail International Circuit

Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Kawasaki has chosen the Losail International Circuit for the launch of its most important Supersport motorcycle to date.

As the first motorcycle manufacturer to offer journalists the chance to ride the Losail circuit by floodlight, Kawasaki have been impressed with both the track facilities and also the warm welcome offered them by the people of Qatar, as Marketing Manager for Kawasaki Motors Europe, Jan Willem van der Straten, explains. This is the second time that Kawasaki chooses the Qatari track to launch a new motorcycle.

“With 60 journalists from 15 countries, as well as a team of mechanics and Japanese factory staff plus the motorcycles to coordinate, the organisational side of this launch has been considerable. Our choice of Qatar was perfect and we would like to thank everyone who has made this event possible.

The feedback from those that have already ridden the new machine is that they are extremely impressed with its poise and performance and, likewise, enthusiastic about Qatar and its friendly, welcoming people”.

Making the job of learning such an impressive and technical track easier, Kawasaki has employed the services of two world famous riders who are familiar with the 5.3 kilometre circuit. Kawasaki World Superbike rider, Tom Sykes from England has raced at Losail many times and so too his riding partner for this launch, Spaniard, Joan Lascorz.

The 1000cc Ninja ZX-10R is among the most advanced motorcycles in the world. It represents an engineering and technological leap forward in terms of motorcycles which Kawasaki hope will also result in future race track success.

Built to be suitable for use as a racing machine as well as a street motorcycle, the 200 horsepower Ninja already makes nearly as much power as a racing bike. Kawasaki decided to launch the new Ninja on a track so that journalists could experience its full potential in a safe and secure environment.

Incorporating state-of-the-art features such as adaptive traction control and three selectable power modes, journalists from fifteen European countries have been invited to the Losail track outside Doha to sample the impressive machine.
