Dani Gibert manages an eighth place finish in the Mexico GP after some recuperation from his shoulder injury

Eighth for the Gas Gas rider upon his return to action after dislocating his shoulder in the GP of Finland, barely a fortnight ago. Gibert blamed the inactivity during his recovery period by adding a seventh, eighth and ninth places respectively in the finals, after qualifying in sixth place in the Superpole.

Dani Gibert reappeared in the SuperEnduro GP of Mexico. After two weeks ago dislocating his shoulder during practice for the last GP of Finland, the Gas Gas rider has returned to competition. To be ready for the fourth round of the World Championship, the rider undertook an intensified recovery period and physiotherapy sessions, during which time, he had been without training on the bike.

Despite the drawbacks and physical discomfort from his recent injury, Gibert managed to sneak for the first time this season into the struggle for Superpole, open only to the eight fastest times in the qualifying session. The Gas Gas rider marked the sixth fastest time, a good starting position that allowed the rider from Santa Margarida i els Monjos to get a creditable seventh position in the first round. In the next two, the Gas Gas Factory Team Pons rider suffering from his weeks of inactivity and fatigue, finished in eighth and ninth, and finally after the computation of the results of the three finals, he arrived at eighth overall in the GP of Mexico.

The Gas Gas rider earned 24 points in the Arena VFG in Guadalajara and with the absence of two races -Brazil and France- occupies the tenth position in the overall classification in the top category in this World Championship: Prestige. Gibert and his team move directly this week to Belo Horizonte, the Brazil locality where the February 28 fifth and penultimate round of the 2015 World SuperEnduro Championship will be held.

Dani Gibert: “This has been one of the toughest races of the season, not the track, but because I have arrived at this GP of Mexico have barely been able to train because of my dislocated shoulder at the last race in Finland. I had to spend two weeks of rest, just doing physical therapy and exercises. We arrived here without touching the bike and without practice. During training I have not felt too comfortable, rather a bit slow and tired. We have been preparing the bike with this handicap, here in Guadalajara, we are over 1,500 meters high and that, combined with the gasoline octane here, we had a mixture that was a little. We worked on it and in qualifying I did enter the 'Superpole'. Then I got the sixth fastest time, a record that I had not yet achieved this season and in the end have ran more or less. The first race has turned out pretty well, I have kept the pace to finish in seventh place. But then, in the next two, because of fatigue and discomfort in the shoulder, I made too many mistakes, mistakes that can be Expensive and do not allow you to recover. Nevertheless, the result is not satisfactory, I have finished in eighth place and hope to get a little better and to improve in Brazil.”
