Team HRC look to continue podium run in Thailand

Just days after Gautier Paulin and Team HRC finished third in the MXGP of Qatar, Thailand beckons for round two of the FIM Motocross World Championship.

Held on 7-8 March at the Nakhonchaisri Motorsport Complex one hour north-west of Bangkok, the Thailand Circuit track is new on the calendar for this season and as such presents an unknown challenge for the field.

Honda and Team HRC have been able to study the terrain of the area with the support of the Honda Thailand R&D facility, which will help the direction of bike setup, but at that time the track had not been built so the specifics are still unknown.

Evgeny Bobryshev returned to Grand Prix competition in Qatar last weekend, and hoping that the Thai track will be the fast and flowing type he prefers, is looking to build upon a solid points haul afforded from eighth overall.

For Gautier Paulin it was a smooth first Grand Prix with Team HRC, and third in the championship after the first round presents a strong foundation to challenge for the podium once again.

Track action starts with MXGP free practice at 1115hrs local time on Saturday 7 March, and the President of Honda Thailand will join on Sunday for the two races that get underway from 1305hrs.

Roger Harvey HRC General Manager - MXGP
“It’s a totally new track we’re going to in Thailand and we don’t know exactly what we’re going to. Having said that, we have a Honda R&D facility in Thailand and we've had those guys go up and look at the terrain in the area, but the track wasn’t built at that time so we have an idea of the sort of setup we’ll need on the bikes, but nobody really knows what they’re going into.â€

Gautier Paulin 21
“I’ve done my first GP on the HRC bike now which will help for sure as we now have some proper race data, but I will take every GP as a new GP. It’s always cool to go on a brand new track. We flew straight to Thailand to have a nice workout there to get ready for the second GP. We’re not at the top, but the season is long so it’s already good to be in third place.â€

Evgeny Bobryshev 777
“Thailand will be interesting as for everyone it’s a new track. Normally they do good tracks overseas – really fast and nice and my kind of tracks, so I’m looking forward to go there. We have lots of races so I just want to be consistent, stay positive and build on what we did and the points we got in Qatar.â€
