Troy Bayliss tours Ducati Motor Thailand factory

Three-times World Superbike Champion, Troy Bayliss, made a VIP visit to the Ducati Motor Thailand factory as he returned from the first ever round of the World Superbike Championship in Buriram, Thailand.

Enjoying a return-to-action to substitute for the injured Davide Giugliano at the weekend, the 45-year Australian, accompanied by Paolo Ciabatti (Ducati Corse Sporting Director and MotoGP Project Manager), took time out after the race to make a tour of Ducati’s brand new facility with Production Manager, Surasak Lalitkaigtul, and Pierfrancesco Scalzo (Ducati Asia General Manager - Sales & Marketing).

Built to supply Ducati motorcycles throughout the ASEAN regions, the Ducati Motor Thailand factory site covers 22,000 square metres and produces every model of the Italian manufacturer’s range, meeting the same high standards of quality achieved at the HQ in Bologna, Italy.

Troy Bayliss took time to meet many of the factory’s personnel, signing autographs and posing for photos after a spectacular weekend of racing in which the Ducati legend collected a solid 8th and 11th in Thailand’s first ever World Supebike event.

“I was really impressed when we drove into the factory and saw how big and modern it is†said Troy Bayliss. “It was great to tour the production lines and see the Scramblers being made. Meeting the workers was really nice, everyone’s so enthusiastic and they’re doing a great job.â€

Impressed by the facility, Paolo Ciabatti added: “Visiting the factory here in Thailand has been a great opportunity. It really is an incredible facility and I was very impressed with the layout and efficiency of production. It was also good to see how the workers in Ducati Motor Thailand have the same passion for Ducati as they do at home back in Borgo Panigale, Bologna.â€

Pierfrancesco Scalzo expressed his gratitude for the VIP visit and underlined its significance to the region: “We are honoured that Troy and Paolo have taken time out of their busy schedules to visit the Ducati Motor Thailand factory. Here in Asia we are delivering the same premium and unique Ducati experience as in Italy, and the staff here at the factory are driven by the same incredible passion. This visit rewards that passion and shows just how much Ducati cares for this exciting region.â€

Troy Bayliss and Paolo Ciabatti continue their Thai schedule with a visit to the Ducati stand (A18) at the Bangkok International Motorshow.
