Moscow Motobike Salon 2008: Buell and custom bikes

On March 21, Motonews.ru correspondents attended the second day of the 5th International Motobike Salon. Despite the fact that Chinese scooters were outnumbering other motorbikes at the event, there was still a lot to see at motorbike stands.

First of all, it is various custom bikes along with Buell bikes presented by Harley Davidson for the first time in Russia. Please, see a number of photos from the show.

Among other motorbike manufacturers that participated in the event this year was Suzuki with its latest bike releases, including legendary Hayabusa superbike and Intruder chopper. Both of them were in the spotlight of the exhibition. Honda did well too with its latest generation of CBR Fireblade. Italian-based Benelli with its astonishing bike design stood out against the abundance of ‘Made in China’ motorbikes.

An annual award ceremony Russia Bike of the Year was held as part of the show supported by the ‘Motorcycles, Design & Innovation. Bike Freak’ magazine on March 20. Its main aim is to foster further development, support and promote motorbike culture, as well as build the right attitude to custom bike design in Russia.

Various bike customizing and tuning workshops participated in the event demonstrating the most beautiful and unusual motorcycles manufactured both in Russia and abroad. There was a special expert committee running the Russia Bike of the Year contest among both professionals and amateurs with legendary Eddie Trotta, a US custom bike builder, as the committee’s chairman.
