The Honda family mourns one of its own
The Honda family is mourning the loss of one its rising stars, the charismatic Italian Marco Simoncelli, who lost his life in a racing accident in today’s Malaysian Grand Prix in Sepang.
Simoncelli had a front end crash on the second of 20 scheduled laps in the right hand turn 11. Rather than he and his machine sliding outwards, as is normal, his tyres gripped the track and shot him into the path of two riders following closely behind.

Alexey Naumov: “Beautiful and real! I get to hold her now, and I’m very happy!”
As reported earlier by Motonews.ru, the Dakar Rally 2011 finished... And even though 34-year old Spaniard Marc Coma was the winner in the bike section for the second consecutive year, Russian national Alexey Naumov managed to finish this complicated rally –a feat that only a proud few can boast.
At finish, the Russian racer ranked 75th, 9:04:57 behind the winner. Yet, don't let the numbers discourage you: Alexey Naumov is the first Russian biker to complete the race in the history of Dakar. Alexey Naumov is coming back to Russia tomorrow.

Ducati podium double as Stoner wins at Aragon, Hayden third...
|
1 comment(s)
The Ducati Team celebrated victory and a podium double today as Casey Stoner took his first win and Nicky Hayden his first rostrum of the 2010 season. Stoner's victory came from pole position and was hard earned after overcoming an early battle with Jorge Lorenzo on the first lap and pressure from Dani Pedrosa over the remainder of the race. The Australian was able to manage a gap of around one second throughout over the Spaniard, who finally gave best over the closing laps and crossed the line over five seconds adrift.
Nicky Hayden gave chase to the leaders over the opening laps and stuck doggedly to the tail of Lorenzo to set up a thrilling finale. A perfectly timed pass onto the back straight gave the Spaniard little opportunity to respond as they charged to the final corner, sealing Hayden's first top-three finish since Indianapolis last year and the team's first podium double since 2007. After both making crucial changes to their Desmosedici GP10 machines this weekend, Stoner and Hayden are hopeful they can carry this form through to the final five races of the season.

Ecostyle Project from LCR Honda MotoGP team
Lucio Cecchinello’s Team have set themselves a difficult goal for the 2010 season, but for sure one with a high ethical value.
During the entire 2009 season, LCR Honda Team has measured their GHG emissions (Green House Gas) in order to evaluate first the footprint and then the applicable reductions. The Team has chosen MEC srl from Torino as a partner for this kind of measuring, and some hardware has been installed in the structures inside the paddock to collect all the energy consumption data. Then the calculation has been extended to all Team activities, from flights to traveling, from race tyres to the catering in the hospitality.
