Hondas finish one-three in difficult Spanish Grand Prix
Repsol Honda riders Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa finished first and third, respectively, in the tensely fought Spanish Grand Prix on the partially wet and treacherous Jerez Circuit in southern Spain.
For Stoner, the win was his first at the Andalucian circuit and well-deserved. After a hectic first few laps that saw serial maneuvers, not always gentlemanly, Stoner made his way to the front on a track littered with patches of wet tarmac. Once there, he was joined by Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo, the winner of the past two races in Jerez, who was eager to make it three in a row.

Valentino Rossi took his first laps aboard the Ducati GP12 Friday morning on the Andalusian circuit in Jerez de la Frontera on a day that was sunny and warm (29В° air, 41В° track; 84В° and 106В° Fahrenheit, respectively), with the only imperfection being a strong wind.

Lorenzo Delivers a Master Class in Wet Riding to Claim Victory in Spain
Yamaha Factory Racing rider Jorge Lorenzo used his M1 to deliver a master class in wet riding today, delivering a flawless performance to take victory in front of his home crowd at Jerez.
The second race of the 2011 MotoGP Championship was played out on treacherous track conditions that claimed a number of victims over the 27 laps.
Slipping comfortably into second in the first lap Lorenzo stayed in contention in the top three for several laps, keeping calm and graduating to first position as rivals Stoner, Rossi and Simoncelli all crashed out of contention. A steady rhythm and inch perfect lines finally saw the reigning World Champion take the chequered flag, his first ever professional race career win in the wet.

MotoGP emerges from the ash cloud to land in Spain
MotoGP finally resumes action this weekend, after the recent Icelandic Volcano forced the postponement of the Japanese GP. It has been a frustrating time for the paddock as the ash cloud has billowed over Europe and it will be an excited Fiat Yamaha Team that lands in Spain this week, with Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo itching to get back to action after their brilliant one-two in the opening round.
Rossi has an impressive record at Jerez, with seven wins in all classes there including three for Yamaha in 2005, 2006 and last year, when he overhauled Dani Pedrosa to take his first win of the season. Despite being on a high from his brilliant win in Qatar, Rossi was perhaps more grateful than most for the volcano's eruptions as he slightly damaged his shoulder muscles in a motocross training accident ten days ago. The cancelled race has given him unexpected extra time to recover and he hopes to be in good enough shape to put up a fight in Jerez.

Vladimir Leonov completes first day of test rides in Spain
The Viessmann Kiefer Racing Team pilot and the first Russian to ever make it to MotoGP Vladimir Leonov was back on track yesterday for the last official pre-season MotoGP test rides in Jerez de la Frontera (Spain) today.
Yesterday was the first test ride day in the south of Spain. Vladimir showed pretty good results, ending in the 18th position. His best time was 1:47.563. He made 12 laps, the 5th of which was the most successful. Unfortunately, on the first turn of the 12th lap, Vladimir took a fall. His team then resolved to quit the test ride. It was a rather technical fall, with no injuries and no damage to the bike.
