Pedrosa untouchable at Indianapolis

Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa rode to an emphatic win at the Indianapolis Grand Prix today, expertly piloting his Honda RC212V to victory ahead of home hero Ben Spies and championship leader Jorge Lorenzo. His team-mate Andrea Dovizioso was looking strong in second position in the early laps before finally coming home in fifth place at the end of the 28-lap encounter - held in wilting 35 degree heat at the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

From fifth on the grid, an on-form Pedrosa was fourth into the first corner and quickly set about dispatching his rivals, starting with Nicky Hayden on lap two and Dovizioso two laps later. With only Ben Spies now ahead, Pedrosa relentlessly closed down the Texan and passed him at the start of lap eight before easing out a comfortable gap of 5.5s - setting the fastest lap of the race on lap 11 and then controlling the race from the front to come home 3.5s clear at the chequered flag.

Yamaha and Valentino to part company at end of 2010

Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. would like to announce that the partnership between Valentino Rossi and Yamaha will come to an end at the close of the season, when Valentino will move on to new challenges.
Yamaha and Valentino have enjoyed seven fantastic seasons of racing, during which time they have won four MotoGP World Championships together.

Valentino has played a huge part in the history of Yamaha and he will always remain an important part of Yamaha's heritage. Yamaha is extremely grateful for Valentino's contributions to its racing successes over the past seven years and it would like to wish him the very best in his future racing endeavours.

Flawless Lorenzo romps to victory as Rossi makes triumphant return to podium

Jorge Lorenzo took a brilliant sixth victory of the season at Laguna Seca today, romping home to win by over three seconds from Casey Stoner. His team-mate Valentino Rossi made a triumphant return to the podium just seven weeks after breaking his right leg, overhauling Andrea Dovizioso during a thrilling last ten laps to finish third.

Starting from pole for the fifth time in a row, Lorenzo lost ground to his rivals at the fearsome downhill turn one and was relegated to third first time around. For the first few laps there was little he could do except hang on behind Pedrosa and Stoner but on the sixth lap Stoner ran wide and Lorenzo stormed through to take second. By now Pedrosa was nearly a second clear but Lorenzo's pace had begun to improve and he started to push as hard as he could and exert some pressure on his fellow Spaniard. On lap twelve, with the gap now narrowed to half a second, Pedrosa crashed out and left Lorenzo in the lead and from then on it was plain sailing for the 23-year-old as he expertly controlled his advantage over Stoner to bring it home and take his second win on US soil. Today's victory was his 11th in MotoGP, his 32nd in all classes and his 10th successive podium.

MotoGP: Pedrosa wins the race in Mugello

The Repsol Honda Team enjoyed an excellent Italian Grand Prix at Mugello today with Dani Pedrosa taking a runaway win and his team-mate Andrea Dovizioso joining him on the podium with a competitive ride to third place. The result elevates Pedrosa to second in the World Championship behind Jorge Lorenzo, and confirms the competitiveness of the Honda RC212V - with Pedrosa setting the 11 fastest laps of the race today. His best lap, a new race lap record of 1m 49.531, was 0.762 seconds clear of his nearest rival.

Pedrosa made it look easy today on his RC212V, converting pole position into a lead at the first corner, and the 24-year-old Spaniard was never headed for the entire 23-lap race. Riding with metronomic precision, he opened the gap to today’s second place man, Jorge Lorenzo, lap-by-lap and his biggest challenge today was maintaining concentration and avoiding mistakes as he navigated Mugello’s glorious sweeping curves. The gap stretched to as much as eight seconds before Pedrosa began to ease back slightly and control the pace. He crossed the line four seconds clear of Lorenzo to record the ninth MotoGP win of his career and his 32nd in all classes of Grand Prix racing.

Rossi fires to the front in Le Mans with Lorenzo close in third

The third Grand Prix of the season got underway in France this afternoon and Valentino Rossi started the weekend in strong form by finishing the first practice on top of the standings. His team-mate and last year's race winner Jorge Lorenzo finished third on an unusually sunny day at the famous Le Mans 24-Hour track.

Rossi and his crew had made some significant improvements to their setting during the Jerez test and they were rewarded with immediate gratification today, as the Italian felt comfortable and fast on his M1 right from the start. Le Mans is accepted as a good track for Yamaha and it looked just that today as the World Champion lapped consistently in the top three before moving into first with his final lap. This was despite some lingering pain in his recovering shoulder, which he hopes will ease as the weekend progresses.

France beckons Fiat Yamaha to continue stunning start

With a win and a podium each so far this season, Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi will arrive at Le Mans this weekend with high hopes of continuing their victorious start to the season. The Fiat Yamaha pair lie first and second in the championship after two races, with Lorenzo four points ahead of Rossi following his magnificent home victory last time out.

The Spaniard turned 23 two days after Jerez and the memory of his first home MotoGP win was still fresh in his mind as he celebrated his birthday at home in Barcelona, following a successful one-day test. He cannot help but feel confident for another good weekend in Le Mans, where last year he kept his head to win by 17 seconds as the weather wreaked havoc on all around him, and the season before he finished second despite riding with two broken ankles. The Mallorcan has one other win at Le Mans, in 2007 on the way to his second 250cc title.

MotoGP emerges from the ash cloud to land in Spain

MotoGP finally resumes action this weekend, after the recent Icelandic Volcano forced the postponement of the Japanese GP. It has been a frustrating time for the paddock as the ash cloud has billowed over Europe and it will be an excited Fiat Yamaha Team that lands in Spain this week, with Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo itching to get back to action after their brilliant one-two in the opening round.

Rossi has an impressive record at Jerez, with seven wins in all classes there including three for Yamaha in 2005, 2006 and last year, when he overhauled Dani Pedrosa to take his first win of the season. Despite being on a high from his brilliant win in Qatar, Rossi was perhaps more grateful than most for the volcano's eruptions as he slightly damaged his shoulder muscles in a motocross training accident ten days ago. The cancelled race has given him unexpected extra time to recover and he hopes to be in good enough shape to put up a fight in Jerez.

Rossi continues pre-season domination as Lorenzo makes his return

Reigning World Champion Valentino Rossi continued his domination of the pre-season testing programme in Qatar today, finishing the opening day of the final test 0.3 seconds ahead of Casey Stoner. His team-mate Jorge Lorenzo made a welcome return from injury to finish the day a creditable seventh and with Ben Spies third and Colin Edwards fourth, it was four Yamahas in the top seven.

Testing began at 6pm under the floodlights at the desert track and Rossi was in command from the word go, finding yet more improvement in the 2010 M1 at what is not generally one of his best tracks. A break for dinner saw both Stoner and Spies better his time but the Italian was determined to finish the day on top and improved again on his last run to regain first place.

Rossi and Lorenzo enjoy successful trip to Indonesia

Fiat Yamaha Riders Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo yesterday rounded off a successful three-day visit to Indonesia, one of the most important markets for Yamaha. Rossi came straight from testing in Malaysia last week, whilst Lorenzo flew out from Spain, where he has been recuperating at home from an injured hand.

Rossi visited Medan first, Indonesia's third largest city, where he took part in a press conference alongside Yamaha Motor Indonesia top management. The press conference officially launched the ‘Semakin di Depan' sponsorship, which will see Yamaha Motor Indonesia's ‘One Step Ahead' logo carried on the YZR-M1 and the riders' leathers this season. Rossi then visited ‘PT.Alfa Scorpii', Indonesia's second largest Yamaha Main Dealer, for the opening ceremony of its new show room along with over 400 customers and media.

Rossi meets the press in New Delhi

Valentino Rossi spent a second day in the Indian capital of New Delhi today, taking part in a press conference and interviews with the Indian media. The nine-time World Champion was joined by Masao Furusawa, Executive Officer for Engineering Operations at Yamaha Motor Company. Over 300 Yamaha dealers and members of the press turned out to see Rossi, who was visiting India for the first time.

Rossi rounded off his two-day trip to the country by meeting John Abraham, one of the biggest Indian film stars and also an ambassador for Yamaha India. The Italian flies home tonight to enjoy the final two weeks of holiday before the winter testing regime begins in Malaysia.
