Double podium at Estoril delivers third consecutive Yamaha triple crown
Fiat Yamaha riders Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi put in a superb team performance today at the Grand Prix of Portugal on the Estoril circuit, taking first and second respectively to deliver Yamaha it's third consecutive Triple Crown with the Team, Rider and Manufacturers' titles. The achievement marks the first time since the Triple Crown's inception that any manufacturer has won it three times in a row. After a weekend of disruption from the weather today's race was run mainly in bright sunshine, although rain earlier in the day meant the track was still patchy to begin with.
2010 World Champion Lorenzo made a strong start from pole, taking the lead into the first corner before briefly relinquishing it to Nicky Hayden for a few seconds before taking back control of the race. Team-mate Rossi made a play for the lead on lap four, relegating Lorenzo to second until lap 17 where a decisive out braking manoeuvre saw the Spaniard retake the lead, putting his head down to build an impressive eight second lead over Rossi by the chequered flag. The victory was another landmark for Lorenzo, being the third consecutive time he has won from pole position at this track. Rossi's second position finish continues his impressive record in Portugal, giving him his tenth podium here in all classes.

Russia in MotoGP: Vladimir Leonov shares his first impressions
On the first day of test rides Vladimir Leonov’s main aim was to break in the new engine. The team’s technical director and Leonov’s personal motorist prepared a break-in plan that was smoothly fulfilled.
The Aprilia RSW 250 weighs 60kg less than the Yamaha YZF R6 that Leonov has been riding for the past couple of years. This will require a highly specific way of making turns and more effective braking. The bike also boasts more impressive acceleration dynamics and allows the rider to maintain high speed at maximum lean angles. “It’s important to feel the bike, to trust it. It’s like when you switch from a tuned Vaz 21010 to McLaren. This bike has tremendous speed and mobility potential, and I’ve got to use that,” Viessmann Kiefer Racing pilot Vladimir Leonov said.

Russia in MotoGP: first test rides in Portugal
On March 15-17, Vector Racing Team pilot and the first Russian MotoGP pilot Vladimir Leonov will for the first time ever participate in private team rides with Aprilia RSW 250.
This year, the 21-year-old Russian will have a debut ride in the 250cc class and be part of Germany’s Viesmann Kiefer Racing team for the entire year. But we should explain a bit here. Even though all official protocols will have the German team name in front of Leonov, in fact he will actually continue fighting for Russia’s Vector Racing Team, which he has been part of for the past two seasons in the Superstock (world tournament) and Supersport (German championship) classes. A special agreement giving the green light to such a deal was signed between the two motorbike teams in mid-February.
