Vadim Pritulyak on the Dakar Rally
|
3 comment(s)
Vadim Pritulyak, who has taken part in the Dakar Rally for a number of years now, has agreed to answer a few questions for Motonews.ru about the rally and give his predictions on Russia's chances of winning the prestigious motorcycle contest.
Did you follow the Dakar 2013 events? Who were you rooting for?
Sure, every day. I cheered for my friends from Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. I actually didn't even go to bed until the main group crossed finish at 6 a.m. In the car category, I supported Novitsky and Zhiltsov as his co-driver, since they had a chance to win a place on the podium.. And I cheered for everyone else to make it to the finish line! In the moto class, I supported those I know well personally: Gonçalves, Faria, Przygonski.

Art of wooden motorbikes
|
1 comment(s)
Vyacheslav Voronovich from Lvov (Ukraine) has been into motorcycles since high school, and he rode an iron horse for the first time in seventh grade.
“It was precisely at that time as a kid that I started dreaming about having a bike of my own, but I never had the opportunity. Yet, my interest in motorcycles never actually subsided; it just became deeper and deeper. At the same time, I enjoyed wood carving and making various wooden artifacts. I was – and am to this day – particularly fond of miniature handmade articles,” Vyacheslav says.

Official representatives of Dorna Sports (the holder of commercial rights to the MotoGP series) and FIM (International Motorcycling Federation) plan to venture to the Crimea to assess Ukraine’s potential to host the World Championship. As reported earlier, a new racetrack, the Crimea Grand Prix Circuit, is currently being built in Ukraine’s Crimea, just 6 kilometers from the resort city of Yevpatoria. The track has been developed by the renowned designer of such auto and motor cycling facilities, German architect Hermann Tilke.
The construction is being done by Stepracing Team Ltd. According to Anatoly Kuchmin, the construction company’s co-owner, both Dorna and FIM would like to see Ukraine host a MotoGP round, and are planning to visit the track this spring when the circuit, worth EUR 260m, is due for completion.

Crimea Grand Prix Circuit construction details
|
2 comment(s)
As announced earlier, a new A-category racing track – Crimea Grand Prix Circuit – is being built in the Crimea, outside of the city of Yevpatoria. It will be 19th on the global list of racing tracks that can be used for international racing events: MotoGP, Formula 3, WTCC and Formula 1 tests.
The chief designer of the track is none other than Hermann Tilke, renowned for the construction of the best racing circuits. It’s fair to say he nearly dominates the sphere of designing and licensing racing tracks. The project makes use of the best practices used in constructing international racing circuits in Malaysia, Brazil, Spain, France, Portugal, Bahrain, China, and Japan.

Tragic bike crash reported in Ukraine
25-year-old Anna Mishutkina, a motorcyclist whose life was claimed in a terrible road accident involving the son of Ukraine’s deputy and millionaire Iosif Faingold, was buried in late September in Simferopol (Ukraine).
Ukraine’s well-known biker was hit by a Bentley car on the night of September 16. According to eyewitnesses, the latter was driving at such an extremely high speed that there was almost nothing left of the bike. More than 300 people, including plenty of bikers, came to say good-bye to Nikita (Anna’s nickname in the motorbike community). Bikers from all across Ukraine were there to mourn the beloved biker, who also left behind a 5-year-old daughter.
