8 comment(s)
Ducati and Lamborghini, Italian companies part of Audi AG group, have celebrated a milestone with their joint social project “Dual Education System Italy,” which has been created in cooperation with the Volkswagen Workforce Foundation, the Italian Ministry for Teaching, Universities and Research, and the Ministry of Education of the region Emilia Romagna. The two companies are enabling young Italians, largely from socially disadvantaged families, to take the next important step of their dual education and training based on the German system. Following the first component of education in a college, the young people are now starting their practical training. For this purpose, Lamborghini and Ducati have set up modern training centers in their plants.
Since September 2014, Ducati and Lamborghini have been developing a new process for education and training in Italy. In cooperation with the two colleges Fioravanti Belluzzi and Aldini Valeriani in Bologna, the companies have established a two-year-joint education and training plan for 48 young people, in order to establish a dual concept between college and company. The program is primarily aimed at socially disadvantaged young people. At the start of the first practical phase at the Ducati and Lamborghini plants, the Board of Management Member for Human Resources at AUDI AG, Thomas Sigi, and the Board of Management Member for Sales and Marketing at AUDI AG, Luca de Meo, visited the new classrooms accompanied by Ducati Motor Holding CEO Claudio Domenicali and Lamborghini President and CEO Stephan Winkelmann.

Boris Savitsky, the General Director of Fudzi Motors — an exclusive importer of Kawasaki motorcycles — has kindly agreed to fill Motonews.ru in on how the Japanese brand is doing in Russia.
How many Kawasaki motorcycles were sold last year, in 2011?
In 2011, Kawasaki sales closed in on the level of 1,500 bikes, which is, objectively speaking, an excellent result. It is particularly important that we reached the cherished goal – 25% of the road bike segment. That’s a new one for us. As for bikes for active recreation, quads, jet skis and motocross bikes, we’re on track to achieve significant progress in 2012.

Vladimir Chaikovsky: Demand for BMW bikes rising
|
8 comment(s)
Vladimir Chaikovsky, who is responsible for sales and marketing at BMW Motorrad Russia, has agreed to a question-and-answer session with Motonews.ru to fill us in on the latest developments in the BMW motorcycle business in Russia.
Vladimir, when we spoke in April 2010, you said that BMW planned to sell 600 motorcycles in Russia that year. Did you reach that target? And what are your expectations for this year? How many bikes did you sell, and how many are you planning to sell in 2011?
Artyom, it is a real pleasure for me to answer this question. We fulfilled our plans last year, and this year, it seems that the overall number of buyers of BMW motorcycles is much bigger than we imagined. Truth be told, we're already looking at a four-digit number. A few hundred motorcycles a year, after all, is an overly modest figure for a country as big as Russia.

|

US retail sales of Ural sidecar motorcycles rose 39% in 2010. Sales were up in each quarter of the year, with the forth quarter sales up twofold compared to the same period in 2009.
“We realize that we have seen some of the best results in the motorcycle industry in terms of growth over the last year, but our goal was to get back to the level of sales we had in 2008. We feel somewhat disappointed that we didn’t reach this goal and fell short of our pre-crisis results by 18%”, – says Madina Merzhoyeva, company’ VP of marketing and sales.

New BMW GT and GTL models in great demand but limited supply – for now
|
6 comment(s)
Sales and Marketing Manager for BMW Motorrad Russia Vladimir Chaikovsky filled motonews.ru in on a new generation of BMW Motorrad tourist motorcycles, GT and GTL, which are about to appear on the Russian market.
Ever since BMW Motorrad presented its experimental development, Concept 6, in the fall of 2009, bikers can’t seem to get the idea of an in-line six-cylinder engine out of their minds. BMW has been using unique in-line six-cylinder engines of its own development in its cars for over 70 years. The concern also plans to start manufacturing motorcycles with this type of engine, again, using its own technology.
